Why Do We Celebrate Nursing Holidays?
Nurses give…a lot. They give to their patients, coworkers, friends, and families; not to mention, they give up the most valuable thing we have, time.
This is why nurses deserve to be celebrated with all the upcoming nursing holidays in 2021. When you think about it, nursing holidays aside, what do they receive in return on a daily basis?
“The feeling of accomplishment of saving lives,” or “Making an impact on others that will last a lifetime.”
Those effects are probably the best part of being a proud nurse in such a fulfilling profession.
However, nurses should be celebrated through acts of appreciation that return a fraction of the real-world impacts they dish out.
As a nurse myself, I knew of National Nurses’ Week recognizing our sacrifices, but that was pretty much the extent of my knowledge. However, did you know that there were numerous days of recognition to honor nurses and their specialties?
(Yeah, didn’t know either…but now you do!)
So, if you are a nurse yourself, find out which holiday applies to you and then go above and beyond to show your fellow nurses, friends, and coworkers that you care and that they make a difference.
